To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Korean War, VANK has launched a campaign to honor war correspondents Marguerite Higgins and David Douglas Duncan, who documented the war’s harsh realities and shared the truth with the world. Higgins, the first female war correspondent to win a Pulitzer Prize, vividly reported civilian suffering and key operations like the Incheon Landing, while Duncan’s powerful photographs from battles such as Chosin Reservoir revealed the human cost and tragedy of war beyond military narratives.
Through posters and online campaigns, VANK aims to highlight these correspondents as “courageous witnesses” whose records shaped historical memory and global understanding of the Korean War. The initiative encourages younger generations to see the war as a legacy of truth and lessons for peace, not just a historical event. VANK is also expanding its “K-Policy Hallyu” initiative, aiming to share Korea’s history and values with 200 million global Hallyu fans, linking cultural interest with deeper historical awareness.
