Kang Yumi served as a VANK Researcher from May 2023 to March 2024. During her time at VANK, she drafted multiple petitions calling for an end to the distortion of Korean history and culture by Japan and China — particularly regarding the East Sea, Sado Mine, Hanji (traditional Korean paper), and Hansik (Korean cuisine), while urging the spread of accurate information. She also planned and created a website introducing Korea’s development and achievements, which are often overlooked in foreign media and textbooks. In addition, she led a campaign to promote Taekkyeon, a traditional Korean martial art, by including Taekkyeon performances in international Korean cultural events and proposing the establishment of Taekkyeon educational institutions.
