While global interest in Korea continues to rise, finding reliable photos and explanatory materials to introduce the country abroad has long posed a practical challenge. Addressing this demand, the Voluntary Agency Network of Korea (VANK) announced on Sept. 21, 2026, the launch of “K.Source” (ksource.kr), a comprehensive content platform dedicated to showcasing the nation’s history, culture, and tourism.
The initiative is designed to support overseas Korean language school instructors, members of the Korean diaspora, and global learners who need a centralized hub for trustworthy Korea-related materials.
K.Source functions as a digital platform where users can search, download, and utilize a wide array of educational and promotional assets. At its debut, the platform features an initial collection of over 1,800 assets produced and curated by VANK. The archive includes approximately 1,200 photographs, 300 illustrations, 120 promotional brochures, 100 posters, and 100 social media infographic slides, with plans to steadily add more content over time.
Unlike conventional image-hosting websites, K.Source couples visual assets with cultural context and understanding. Each resource—spanning historical events, cultural heritage, cuisine, nature, and prominent figures—is accompanied by descriptions in both Korean and English. This bilingual format enables overseas users with limited background knowledge to grasp the significance of each subject before using it in educational or promotional projects.
The platform is open to a broad audience, including domestic creators, overseas educators and students, diaspora organizations, and international enthusiasts seeking a deeper understanding of Korea. In addition to accessing existing content, registered members can upload and share their own photos and illustrations. Rather than serving as a one-way distribution channel, K.Source is structured as a collaborative platform built alongside users at home and abroad.
“Global interest in Korea is growing, but it remains difficult to find materials in a single place to properly understand and introduce the country,” said Park Gi-tae, head of VANK. “We hope K.Source becomes a valuable space where people who want to learn about Korea—and those who want to share it with the world—can easily find and use what they need.”
Lee Jeong-ae, the lead researcher directing the platform’s development, added: “We recognized how hard it is to find practical, usable materials to present Korea. Beyond simply supplying resources, we structured the platform with bilingual descriptions so users can learn and understand the background, making it far easier to introduce Korea to an international audience.”
Moving forward, VANK plans to continuously expand the platform’s collection and encourage broader global participation, developing K.Source into an interactive hub where international audiences can learn about Korea and help educate others.
