VANK has launched a campaign for World Health Day (April 7) and the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation to highlight three foreign medical missionaries — Oliver R. Avison, Robert Grierson, and Stanley H. Martin — who supported Korea’s independence through medical care.
These figures treated the injured, aided independence activities, and exposed Japanese atrocities during the colonial era. The campaign aims to shed light on independence fighters who “saved lives” rather than engaging in armed struggles. VANK is also hosting a participatory event titled “My Independence Prescription” to honor their contributions.
